2. Singular or plural? [Put in an 'x' when the form of the word is already correct!]

A swimming pool will soon open in our neighbourhood. This (be) good news. So far we have always had to travel 20 miles to the nearest pool to have a swim. 20 miles to the pool and 20 miles back again means driving 40 miles, which (sound) much, of course. So we have always done some shopping as well. The clothes you can get at Debenhams, for example (be) normally of a good quality, but you cannot always trust the information you get in sales brochures. The last time we shopped at Debenhams I bought two different jeans-style trousers. When I wanted to wash them I had to ask my mother for advice. “Turn the inside out!”, she said, which was a valuable information. As our washing machine is on the first floor I had to go up the stairs, which very steep in our house.
